Amazonite is a rare variety of the common mineral Feldspar. It is highly sought after due to its beautiful aqua blue color. It was originally called Amazonstone after the Amazon River in Brazil but was later changed to Amazonite. Interestingly, it is rarely found near that location. It has been called “The Prosperity Stone” and some believe that hanging it over the entrance door will bring in more business. Amazonite is sometimes uses as an alternate to the December Birthstone.
