Georgian jewellery is highly sought after. The Goldsmiths of this period were highly skilled. This unique necklace and beautiful brooch features 51 rose cut diamonds measuring approximately 1.5 carats. These beautiful diamonds would have been hand cut. The rose cut originated in the 1500s, it is a very sought after style. The front of the brooch is set in sterling silver and the back of the piece is a bright 9ct rose gold. It depicts the Virgin Mary with her hands clasped around Baby Jesus, the picture is reverse painted onto curved glass. The brooch can be worn as a brooch or worn as a necklace, on the back of the piece it has a a large gold loop.
Our Master Goldsmith painstakingly restored the piece to its former glory and we have been thrilled with the results.
